Increasing Food Access in All 8 Wards

When neighbors East of the River demanded more healthy food options in their communities. Muriel Bowser developed a plan to expand food access, create good-paying jobs, and boost the local economy. Her plan ensures 162K residents have access to fresh food within a mile of their home. Muriel Bowser worked to give thriving businesses throughout DC incentives to expand into Wards 7 and 8, distributing nearly $10M to fresh food businesses. Under her leadership, DC opened two grocery stores in Ward 8, and a new grocer in Ward 7, with more coming this year.
