Muriel Bower has helped small businesses that were hit hard by Covid. She provided $40M in rent relief for businesses that couldn’t make rent due to the pandemic. She also supported local businesses with grants and investments, and made it possible to use public outdoor spaces for dining and recreation. She is also focused on allowing more residents get good-paying jobs to reducing income inequality. Under Bowser’s leadership, unemployment dropped in all eight wards. She has made DC welcoming for new companies to invest in and provided grants for women and POC-led companies to start businesses and hire DC workers.
