Muriel Bowser led DC’s fight against COVID-19. She helped administer over 1.4 million vaccines to DC residents, with over 613K residents having received at least one dose. Mayor Bowser also made testing accessible and free, with 34 pick up and drop off locations for at-home testing kits, in addition to kickstarting the Senior Vaccine Buddies program, which allowed over 1,500 seniors to receive their vaccinations. This has allowed for over 780K tests to be conducted throughout the city. She also made investments towards residents struggling during the pandemic, including $352M towards federal rent assistance and $2.7M towards funeral assistance for DC residents. When it came time to reopen schools, Mayor Bowser kept her promise to safely reopened schools for over 90K kids in DCPS and charter schools.
