Muriel is helping Black businesses stay in the District through a grant program

WASHINGTON (7News) — LaToya Lyles Walker says when she was in 5th grade she wrote in her journal that she wanted to own a beauty salon that also had a car wash, so while there, ladies could get their car washed and if necessary have a day care to watch their kids.

This morning Mayor Muriel Bowser and other city officials came to Lyles Walker’s Tsunami Hair Salon to help her celebrate acquiring the building where her business has been located the past seven years.

“I bought the building Friday!” a beaming Lyles Walker told reporters.
